there is no 87 305 tbi motor. it started in 1988.
here's the info on the motors available and hp ratings for year:

you shoudl take a look around the site outside the bulletin board. There's a lot of stuff here.

....i just assumed it was cause it had the round air filter on top....
Well then chances are it's a 305 carb (RPO LG4, eighth digit in VIN = "H"). Here's the breakdown of hp for 305's in 1987:
Sport Coupe (LG4/Carb): 165
Z28 (LG4/Carb): 170
Z28 (LB9/Tuned Port Injection) w/automatic: 190
Z28 (LB9/Tuned Port Injection) w/5-speed: 215
Z28 (L98/5.7 Tuned Port Injection): 225
I have no idea why you get five extra horses for the same engine in the Z28.

At least come up with a decent bull**** answer like "better exhaust" or something.
Check your VIN, run it thru the decoder on the main page and it'll tell you your cars year and the engine.

LOL, they probably said lets give the Z28 more HP and TQ because the the car with better gears is faster!! It was a joke dude, glad u figured it out, thats what the "
" was for. Who knows where the extra 5HP and 5TQ came from. Its because its a Z28.

In addition to what Drew pointed out, you're inferring that Z28's came with 3.23's. This is not true on automatic 305 Z28's. They came with 2.73's. RPO G92 was not an option with LG4 Z28, only TPI's. And we are talking about LG4's here, not TPI's. I needed to clear this up for newbies.
