I just got done looking at a never titled 1982 Trans Am. PICS

I just got done looking at a never titled 1982 Trans Am. PICS
Well like the title says, I just checked out a 1982 Trans Am that is owned by the guy that owned a Pontiac dealership until 1982. The car was never sold, and is still currently on the factory MSO. He kept it and has put miles on it on a dealership D plate. It has 17,206 miles, and still has the factory plastic on the carpet. Now, heres the weird story about the car. In the mid 80's, this guy was friends with the man that was building the TOJAN Trans Ams. So he went to the Tojan place and bought all brand new takeoff bumper covers, ground effects, and tires and wheels from a 1986 Trans Am and converted everything to this car. At 1,100 miles, he pulled out the original crossfire engine and installed a carburated 383 stroker engine. It has had a complete repaint due to some jackass keying the car. The thing is really, REALLY nice. Too bad the originality of the car is gone with everything being converted, but kinda cool that when he does sell the car, the new owner will be the FIRST OWNER of the car. The original 1,100 mile crossfire engine is on a stand on the floor not far away from the car. I could have spent all day in the place. The owner is in his early 70's and is an outstanding dude. SUPER nice guy. Heres some pics......

The original tires and wheels, engine, and hatch all go with the car when he decides to part with it. I did get a dollar number, but it's too high for me. Couple more pics...

He actually ordered a BIZARRE 1973 Super Duty Trans Am, and just sold it about 10 years ago. It had also never been titled, and was still on the factory MSO. It was a FOR SURE 1 of 1. He got a hold of some head honcho at Pontiac back in the day, and actually got the OK to order the car this way.
1973 Super Duty Trans Am
ORDERED WITH NO PAINT, the car was delivered in PRIMER
Column Shift
No center console, BUT HAD THE REAR CENTER CONSOLE
Heres a pic of the car, and I took a pic of the invoice
BTW, the red parts on the car came that way because they had to have some color because they were injected molded, so they could not come with NO color. Here's a pic the day it was unloaded off the transporter

The third gen is pretty neat but I think that the SD takes a win on this one. The SD's are worth huge money to begin with, but to have one with such a cool history like that one.. man. I friend of mine works at a Ford dealer and a few weeks ago when I visited him at work, he decided to show me "some old Firebird" that had been parked for a while in the dealerships old store unit. Sure enough it's a 74 Superduty with stupid low miles and original everything

If he got 35K 10 y ago, it must have still had some of the good original stuff in it. Those were used so harshly when they were out, couple guys in University had them, they were a few years old by then, but everyone in town "respected" those cars....

Yep, he has tons and tons of stuff. He enjoys buying and selling at swap meets. He's a walking encyclopedia for Pontiac! The whole place is filled with killer cars. GTO's, etc
I would love to read the magazine article about the primer Super Duty!

Yep, that's exactly what it is. He said he can get cool air from 3 different places that way. I'm surprised nobody has noticed the 150mph speedometer yet..

Its 100% legit. Trust me. Yes, its dirty.....the car hasnt moved for years. So long in fact that it looks like some kind of mold on the steering wheel. If you could see it in person, it is absolutely gorgeous, and is no doubt a legit 17k mile car. Plus, I grew up an hour from here, and I've known about this guy and his cars for close to 30 years. I just moved here a year ago, and was told he was one of the first guys I needed to meet....and he actually was.
Oh and everything with this car is photo documented.

Yes, the leather wheel in one of my old cars (sold) got like that after being closed up for years. It cleans right off, but is a mild form of mold. Not pleasant, but easily curable.

In Indiana, the new owner would be responsible for the excise tax from '82 to present. My MIL received this surprise when she plated my FIL's car three years after he passed away.
The inexpensive plates turned out not so inexpensive. Shortly after plating and putting collector insurance back on the car, it spun a bearing. She let some jackass mess with the car for no good reason, and
he combined so many different fluids, as evidenced by the empty containers.
Now the car sits, untouched.

Gotta remember that leather is essentially the skin of a dead animal, constantly decomposing. Not to hard to imagine the decomposition and the harsh chemicals used to tan, and condition the leather, then whatever was used to dye it, etc leaching out and developing a funk.

I reproduced some firewall grease pencil markings on a car restoration project for him a while back and took a few pics inside the place. Here's just a teaser...this is just one of the shop areas..there is another shop area, car storage area that I assume was the parts dept, and a showroom. The really cool stuff is in the showroom
Oh, the big ring with the Pontiac arrowhead flags was hanging above his showroom floor in 1963 I think he said... Also, a couple flags fell off it, but he has them and just needs to reattach them

That PONTIAC sign in the last picture feels like sand, and it reflects when lights hit it. It's super old, and the guy said that over his entire life, he's never seen another one.

The 82 steering wheel is covered in synthetic material. I guess it's still susceptible to mold though.
