My new 1990 G92, N10, DX3, 5 speed IROC-Z
So, I sold my 82 Z28 to another member on this board, (socalkidd) and he flew in last night and paid for my Z28 and got to hang out with him and got to shoot the bull over some tasty brews. Super great dude. Thanks Jim......you bought a real gem!
Anyways, my new car got delivered this afternoon. It's a 1990 IROC-Z with 42k miles. It has the 230hp TPI 305, 5 speed, G92, N10, and decal and stripe delete DX3. It also has gray leather interior in near perfect condition. I got it from a couple in their early 80's who bought it new in Houston, TX where it spent its life until 6 years ago when they moved to South Dakota. The car is in GREAT shape. Zero rust, the doors open and close like new, everything works, etc. The hood has been painted at some point and doesn't match very good, so I will give that a fresh paint job. The car has had a bra on it its entire life, too, so I am going to give the nose a new paint job as well. (Its in perfect shape, but the paint is yellowing) It has never been in an accident, and no paint work other than the hood.
I found the car on the thread that rayjr started about the 5 speed third gens for sale. Thanks again rayjr for making a great thread!
Anyways, I'll get it washed up tomorrow and take some pics. Here it is when it got dropped off this afternoon!

Thanks! I didnt really WANT to sell the 82.....but he made me a really good offer on the car and I decided to pull the trigger and let it go. And the 82 was such a mint car that I really didn't enjoy driving it that much, i was always too paranoid that something was going to happen to it.

Awesome car! All the best performance options. I know it’s a decal delete car but I think this car would look outstanding with the gray/yellow lower stripe and Iroc decals.

Re: My new 1990 G92, N10, DX3, 5 speed IROC-Z
I've been working on it for a while this afternoon. I'm totally thrilled with the condition of this car. The only thing that doesn't work right is the radio. The speakers pop and crackle so I thought the speakers were blown, and pulled off the sail panel covers to find brand new Memphis audio speakers already in there. So I called the previous owner and he said the trouble is in the radio itself. They had the speakers replaced and nothing changed. He sent the radio somewhere to get repaired and they charged him $150 and didnt fix a thing.
Also I asked him why the hood had been painted and he said it was because the bra made the paint on the hood turn yellow under the bra......and the paint shop he took it to couldn't get a match. I went into work and pulled up the code, got out the variance chips and found a match right away, so I will have no trouble making this car perfect. Hopefully I can get the paint work done this week.
I am still debating on putting a decal kit on it.....and I think I'm going to after I get the paint stuff done and the car detailed.

I just put in the retrosound radio and it sounds better then the old 1.5 din Pioneer I had in it and looks great also. The Bluetooth and iPhone control (limited) is a nice modern touch. I am actually enjoying the car a lot more. Install was a breeze.

A set of those 17 x 9 hawks 88 to 90 rims would sure look sweet on this car also.

I know we are in the history section but I would also put a set of 1le brakes on the front and maybe even consider replicating a GM Players car decal set. I hate to say it’s just so tempting to autocross that car.

Imo go with the silver/gold decals like burnout posted ONLY because the car is white and plain. Any other color and I’d say leave it as-is with the DX3

I'm almost positive I'm going with the yellow and silver stripes like he posted earlier. I absolutely love that color scheme

Great to hear the 82 went to a great place.. socalkid has a really nice IROC too if I recall..
I’m happy for everyone in this ThirdGen Shuffle..
Can’t wait to see the updated detailed pics... That interior looks awesome.
I vote for decals and stripes... It’s going to be so fun to cruise in..
congrats!

All back together. I sanded and buffed the nose, too, and got almost all of the yellowing gone.

Yep, socalkidd has a killer, 23k mile 87 IROC-Z, G92, 5 speed. His garage is gonna be pretty awesome with the two sitting next to each other. The 82 is still in my garage. The shipping company is supposed to be picking it up this week, for it's long voyage to southern California

I ordered a set of General G-MAX RS tires for the car tonight. I hope they're a good tire. It has a brand new set of Goodyear tires on it now, but they are going to go on my Dad's 1991 Trans Am convertible. The Goodyear's are a 225 60 16......so I'm putting 245 50 16's back on it. The Goodyear's are the stock size for the TA, and it needed tires anyways so it worked out good

I found the car on the thread that rayjr started about the 5 speed third gens for sale. Thanks again rayjr for making a great thread!
Anyways, I'll get it washed up tomorrow and take some pics. Here it is when it got dropped off this afternoon!

Well I heard of Ft Dodge simply because dirt track racer Scott Bloomquist is originally from there, but never been to the area. Down here in the Davenport area across the mighty Mississippi in IL. I have a brother in the Cedar Falls area, Iowa looks small on the map but huge when you start driving in it lol

Looks awesome! Almost has a sleeper effect without the decals, which might be what I like the most! And yes the correct tire size will do wonders, I almost think they were borderline the right size. Like the old Sony (I believe) radio ad for the din and a half radios with a fat guy in a speedo. “Just cause it fits doesn’t mean it looks right”
