History / OriginalityGot a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!
fixing power antenna (which btw was working when i parked the car for storage 25 years ago). noticed the cross out, looks like someone screwed up on the part number and decided to cross it out and stamp new one. have to look close, best photo i have
That's very interesting, similar to a post a few days ago showing an inspection sheet found in a 3rd gen that had some questionable, hand-written comments that didn't seem to correspond to the car in which it was found.
Just goes to show how auto manufacturing has changed so drastically in the last 30 years (as it should have!). Sheets of paper ('build' sheets) have long-since been replaced by bar codes and scanners, and the correct components arrive 'just-in-time' to the assembly line by automation. My '18 Silverado has a QR code attached to the door frame that contains the RPO info rather than a sticker in the glove box/console lid listing the options.

Part number or mold updates, I've seen it a few times on the plastic parts.
The little divot in the plastic a bit left of the part number should have another 7mm screw in it. So many of these cars have missing screws and bolts, my cars have a few missing too!

I noticed that divot, and was wondering about that. Thanks for pointing it out. Was thinking that it would make it nice and secure if I put one it.
That is interesting! Ooops scratch it out, wrong number.lol Talking about stuff like that, my 90 Formula has a missing cargo screw bracket upper tail light panel driver's side. No trace of spot weld or indication that one was ever there. No way to put the big plastic cargo screw in there. On the passenger side opposite bracket, there is white chalk written below it "missing bracket" with a long arrow, but that bracket is there. Looks like someone marked the wrong one and since the bracket was clearly there, the next guy could clearly see it and just sent it on it's way. Guess it was assumed someone else installed it? I got a bracket for it from a member awhile back who cut one off a car for me, but I still haven't installed it yet.
