1983 trans am value
Looking at a 1983 Trans AM Brainerd International Raceway Pace Car. Car need to be restored. Does run and drive and rust is not bad. Wondering what something like this is worth?

Not sure why people think an evaluation can be provided based on only a couple sentences of description. Sorry, but we would need many pictures and heavily detailed info to provide anything close to a real evaluation. What does "rust is not bad" mean? The Brainerd Raceway Pace Car adds no value to the car, unless the buyer is the speedway, or a BIR fan. I would consider researching cars that are similar in options and condition and go from there. Probably around $1500 as it is based on what you provided.

If you're looking for actual information, provide some; post multiple pics including the engine and undercarriage, current verified mileage, maintenance documentation including collision damage/repair, original drive train or not, modifications away from stock, and all RPO codes.

Was just looking for a guesstimate not a full blown appraisel. If I had the pictures I would have posted them. Had the opportunity to buy one for $100 or less and was wondering if that was good? I have not owned or been in a third gen since my buddy bought a new 1984 Recaro TA. Won't be posting another question like that.

Re: 1983 trans am value
Not really enough information to establish a value, but the pre-85 cars don't bring the value of later GTAs/TAs - same for Camaros when compared to the IROCs. Aesthetics is hard to argue over because it is all subjective, but the market seems to bear the 82-84 cars seem more dated and less appealing than some of the later cars. I guess to put it in perspective, I have zero interest in an 82-85 Trans Am, I even include the 85 due to the older appearance of the gages... just don't like the way they look. You could have the nicest restored example and I would only be interested if I could by it cheap enough to flip. However, you will find some that prefer the pre-85 cars too, but it's a smaller market than if you were thinking of restoring a 87 GTA. Smaller market = less value.
