History / OriginalityGot a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!
Cool car but that has been a rough 13K miles (if they are accurate). The undercarriage on my 140K mile car is cleaner than that one! Expected it to have a disc rear too but looks to have drums. I don't see that car ever fetching nearly 23K in the condition it is in.
This is a very cool car. It was recently purchased for well under 15K. Maybe around 10K??? Those who have seen it in person tell me that it's very rough for it's miles.
Looking At The Undercarriage It Looks Like It Was Driven During The Winters In A State That Used Lot's Of Road Salt. What's With That Tranny It Looks Completely Black.

I does indeed. I think a lot of that would clean up pretty nicely. But you'd expect more for the asking price.
I would never, EVER buy an IROC with the center cap inserts missing. 100% turn off for me, immediately. It just screams "I'm a cheap *** and I don't care about representing this car at all".
If something so simple can't be fixed....what else isn't being taken care of??

I hear you. They are trying to get top money for this car and have literally exerted no effort in it's presentation.
For me it's when they can't be bothered to dress the tires. Not that they need to be SLATHERED in snot, but at least give them a wipe with something to make the tires black. Might as well leave the backseat piled with months old moldy Happy Meal boxes. Wait, do they still put those in boxes? Bags? Half empty Mtn Dew bottles.
Check out the rust on the hood. This car was definitely not stored properly.
13,000 miles and we already have a mystery box with a ball of red wire next to the booster just laying in there not neat at all? That engine bay and wiper cowl area do not represent low mileage at all, unless the car was stored outside with the hood up every day. Seriously, just look at it! It's all dulled out and old looking. Even my base bird with nearly 180,000 miles on it has a better looking engine bay and no mystery boxes with ***** of wire.

Even most dealers will give the car to a teenage porter to wash and go crazy with a can of dressing. They even skipped this step.

Even if the car really does have 13,000 miles, it has as you said, been stored outside.
I'd be in at $8-$9K if I were looking, just based on the color and power train.
That number really surprises me out of you Charlie. Usually my numbers are above yours LOL. I'd be at $6k on this thing. It's just another used thirdgen in this condition. That kind of money would buy a nicer car I'd think...

Been a rough 13k miles. On paper, sounds like a good car. Photos, not so much...
Change the decklid, you've still gotta fix the hole from the washer nozzle. Cant stand the rear wiper, there's a reason the later cars didn't have it as an option.
It's a 4bbl 305 car, theres no way I'd pay more than about $5500 for a car like this. Less considering it looks pig pen fresh.

Ha! The 85 L69 with 140K I used to have looked just like this when I got it. The wiring/connectors for the cooling fan and fuel pump relays had burned, and the the PO had hacked into them to try to get them to work. The relays were just lying there with wires everywhere. That's when I learned that 85 L69s have different fuel pump/fan wiring from both 83-84 L69s and 85 LB9s. I digress, but the first thing I would check on this car is the function of both.
That wiper really does stand out on this car & color. I had a black 82 trans am with a rear wiper & it didn't bother me at all. Kind of corny when you really think about it, but it was near invisible from the back end with the T/A spoiler & dark color.
A L69 5 speed Iroc would be one of my favorite cars to hoard in a 3rd gen, but this one doesn't do too much for me otherwise. Still a cool car, but not deserving of the odo reading or the price that accompanies it. Awful lot of greasy residue around the front of the engine, steering pump, oil pan, etc. I suppose it could get that way over time, but I don't think anybody here would peg this car as a 13K mile car for any reason at all. It it was 75K miles, we would all be talking about how original & nice it is. I do think it was stored in a not so great place regardless of how many miles it has.
Still fun to look at all the threads like this & I enjoy reading about everyones opinions. Part of the car hobby for me.
It does look like a 113k car. I love the early L69 cars. The sound of tthat dual snorkel sucking in that fresh air has a distinct sound all of its own. If I could get a car like this #1 I would ditch the rear wiper. #2 id build a mild 350 and disguise it to look just like the 305HO. #3 add a 6spd to it and have lots of fun with this Iroc. I love the car, but 8k is a more realistic price.

Loved the sound, when I put an HO aircleaner on my '87 LG4.

Yeah, I agree. It's fun to get a car like this and hear everyone's opinion. Just like it's fun when you and your buds are checking out a car you've never seen before.
For the outrageous asking price, the dealer should have given it a first class detail job, and replaced that hanging headliner. No way this is worth 23 gr.

For sure. I'd be surprised if they get 10, especially in our current environment.
Just telling you why it was made available. Think driving on the Autobahn in the rain at high speed.
Well, as it turns out and I'm sure many have noticed, if you are driving a third gen and it starts raining, the back window will remain relatively dry until you slow considerably or stop. Always thought that was a neat effect.
