I'm more concerned with why are there straps holding the ttops on. The rust that's showing, pretty much tells you the entire t-roof is destroyed and then some, but yea, why are there straps holding the ttops down?

I used to have a pretty ugly '68 El Camino. I never worried about it anywhere I drove or parked. There's a lot of peace of mind that comes with driving shitty cars.

It's the brain damage. Rona Virus cabin fever induced hysteria. Mind control.
Personally, I see what a neglected car could become, and the labor always seems minimal before the project starts. Reality usually sets in and I bail out about half way through.
You couldn't pay me enough to haul that car away. It's pretty much just a 4-wheeled hole in the driveway in which to dump cash until sending it to the crusher.

Trust me, I've learned my lessons, too.
But, I think it's the sun bleached, SoCal, single stage paint, with the promise of dry, rust free, sheetmetal that catches my eye.
I refuse to believe the person that likes this car is also the same person who optioned out chazman's 89 DX3 IROC-Z. This account has clearly been hacked.

Haha, Kurt. It's me. What are you going to say if I ever get a Citation X-11?

That's why I drive one of these while the GMC and the Pontiac sit in the shop 99% of the time.
Re: Why am I attracted to these faded paint, turds?
You guys are talking about faded paint when that car needs the whole damn roof cut off. I say cut it off from the top of windshield, cage the car to follow what would have been the roof line, and rock it like a hard *** no roof full cage race car. It would look bangin'

It's nice having a fun beater. My old 125K mile, Purple Haze vert, wasn't quite a beater, but I drove it everywhere and wasn't too concerned about parking it.

Come on guys....the non show cars need love too. Above is my 88 G92 5-speed car that I purchased a few years ago. It was supposed to go in to get painted last year, but that did not happen. Just something pretty cool about an all original (92K miles car) that has never been modified, or messed with (okay, new tires with polished factory wheels). Now hopefully it goes in later this year for paint, but I think its cool none the less. I have the nice shiny 3rd gens too, but this one is cool as I don't worry about chips or scratches or even getting caught in the rain.

I think your car is freaking awesome! Don't paint it! If I were going to get another 3rd gen, (which I'm not), it'd be like this one. Fun to drive without worry.

Wait a minute. Is this the one that was posted for sale here a few years ago from Kentucky or somewhere?

Yes, it came from West Virginia. I was not looking when I found it either, but it just had to come home to me. Was a rockstar on the 4 hour drive here. I took care of the little things it needed (headliner, armrests) and redid the rims and got new tires. Other than that, she is the same. I really do want to get it painted to return it to its former glory, but having 4 other Camaro's, there is always something that is a higher priority.

I remember the car. I was also interested, but had 4 IROCs at the time, and thought it would just be ridiculous to get another one.

I may get one one day. Came close more than once. But in the '80's, I considered Firebirds, Camaros with the Pontiac styling package, since Pontiac ended V8 production in '81. The Iron Duke was the only authentic Firebird as far as I was concerned,
My wife had a 3rd gen before I did, this before we were married. An '84 Firebird. She bought it because she liked the way the lights popped up. Around 1989, she made her last payment on it and it was promptly stolen the next day and totaled in an ensuing police chase. I'd like to think we'd still have it if that didn't happen.

I have had several over the years...Formula 350's, a Formula Convertible, couple of Firebirds, and a Trans Am or two, they just never really did anything for me and got sent down the road. Much prefer the Camaro's. Pretty much always had once since my first in 1989.

I've actually been working on one for like two years. Original owner, like 30K miles. He's got it stored in the back of a building. Been waiting for pics all this time.
