History / OriginalityGot a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!
So i’ve had this Iroc for a few years now and i heard that some of the options it has arent very common. I was wondering if anyone could help me out to see exactly what i have here? Its a 1987 Iroc Z 350, with factory AC, T tops, roof console, extended range sound, and the electric rearview mirror. Anything helps!
I’m not positive on an 87. Under the lid of the center armrest, or inside the cover in the rear hatch area. It lists all the option codes for your car. It stands for Service Parts Identification.
Here’s one that was posted recently.

GM did not keep track of how many cars had X, Z and Y options to give you any concrete answer. And because it's a 1987, an older ThirdGen, those aren't in Compnine's database in order to use their configuration tool to see how many other cars were built similarly.
The SPID is located on the inside wall of the center console. It's a white sticker with 3-character codes that define the options on the car.
Sounds like the car is fairly well equipped, however, again, there is no concrete numbers on how many others were built like it because that information is not available.
What's rare about your car is that the '87 was the only year you were able to combine the 350 with the performance rear axle on a TTop car. There were no 350 3rd gen Camaros prior to '87, and 1988 up did not allow the TTops if you had the performance rear axle. 1987 was also the only year that the performance axle and options associated with it, were standard on the 350. On 1988+ cars, the axle was an option upgrade.
