Vin Decoder

Hey guys, I am new here and I recently got myself a Red 1987 Camaro Z28 Iroc-Z Convertible and she's a Manual.
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to find out by the VIN what color the car came with and what color trim she should have?
And, for me even more important: it turns out that for the year 1987 there were 744 Convertibles available, but that goes for all Z28's and Iroc-Z's combined.
I am trying to find out how many of these 744 build convertibles are Iroc-z 305's (LB9) and how many of those came with the manual gearbox and withe the Borg-Warner rear axle (G92)?
Anyone..?

Jerry

There should be an SPID sticker on the inside wall of the center console. It will contain the vehicle's VIN and the equipment options, such as color, for the vehicle. Post a picture of the sticker.

If the SPID sticker is missing, you can order a copy of the GM Invoice. Note it will not contain all the RPO codes that's normally found on the SPID, however, it will contain many of the major options to include color. An invoice can be ordered from GM Media Archives:
http://www.gmmediaarchive.com/?page=1

The vehicle is too old to be able to simply supply the VIN online and get all the associated RPO codes. Hence why you'd need to order a copy of the invoice if the SPID sticker isn't on the vehicle.

Hey JT,
Excellent, thanks!
This will at least provide me that part of my question !
Although I own this car, at the moment it is not in my possession yet. It is being shipped to me now...
Do you have any idea about the production number of my specific camaro Z28 Iroc-Z 305 Convertible with a manual gearbox?

I just noticed your location after you said the vehicle is being shipped. If the car was exported when sold new, then you might be able to get the codes online as the original export cars have that information online. PM the VIN and I'll check.

Yeah, it was not an originally exported car so records for it is not online.

That said, @scottmoyer has this VIN in his research of the 1987 Camaro Convertibles and may have a copy of the SPID sticker as this car was originally for sale over the years.

Re: Vin Decoder

Looks like the SPID was listed in a previous sale:

The 81 codes indicate it was Bright Red exterior paint. The 19 codes indicate it was black interior. It's got the 3.45 rear gears.

Re: Vin Decoder

There are no counts available. All LB9 cars are manuals in the '87 IROC-Z convertibles. I don't have G92 counts for your car.

Thanks, I did not know that all LB9's were manuals in 1987 Iroc-Z convertibles. Is there a logical connection between LB9 + manual leads automatically to G92 ?

Or was in that case the G92 still an option?

Re: Vin Decoder

Huh...I just learned something new. 1987 factory convertibles (6th digit of VIN is 3) have CC1 listed in the RPO's for t-tops. 1988+ don't list that....even though they were all built as t-top cars before ASC converted them.
