1991 Pontiac Firebird “Formula”
I’m looking at 1991 Pontiac Firebird that is allegedly a Formula. I say allegedly because the vin number that would denote it as a Formula actually says it’s a Firebird. However the vin also says that the car has the LB9 305, which I don’t believe was offered on a base Firebird. It also has WS6 wheels and the “performance suspension” badge in the interior, but those could’ve been added by the previous owner. The paint isn’t original either so there is no Formula lettering. How do I know whether I have a Formula or a base Firebird?

To be a Formula, it needs to have the W66 RPO code. The RPO codes are on the SPID sticker. The RPO sticker is located on the inside wall of the center console or, for later ThirdGens, on the backside of the locking luggage door in the driver's rear cargo area.
Alternatively, you can post the VIN and I can lookup the RPO codes.
It is correct that the 1991 Firebird could not get the LB9. The Performance Suspension badge does not mean WS6, although all WS6 cars would have the badge. All Formulas have the WS6 suspension.

The fact that the VIN decodes to having a factory LB9 means it's either a Formula, T/A, or GTA. Several of us on here have access to more comprehensive VIN decoders/databases -- post your VIN and we'll let you know what it is for sure.

It turns out the car is a Formula. Looked up the RPOs and they confirmed that the car is a Formula.
