Re: 1982 Z28 LU5 (crossfire) with M4 4-speed manual
Every crossfire car I've seen has started life as an automatic (mine included). I would think, if there was one, that it would have been one of the actual pace cars at Indy, or, some kind of promotional car that they towed around to dealerships to hype up the new design.

Re: 1982 Z28 LU5 (crossfire) with M4 4-speed manual
For some unkown reason, with the exception of 1984 when they only had Carburated v8 engines, GM did not pair the Manual transmission with the top engine of any year CFI/LU5 (82-83), TPI/LB9 (85-86) or 350/L98 (87-92).
Re: 1982 Z28 LU5 (crossfire) with M4 4-speed manual
In 83 the L69 was only available with manual. the L69 was the top engine for the year. in 84 the L69 was only available with an automatic
A manual was originally planned for the LU5 but was dropped just before release. I think due to not meeting emission requirements.

84 there were tons of L69 manual cars, did you mean LU5?
Re: 1982 Z28 LU5 (crossfire) with M4 4-speed manual
You are right, in 84 the L69 was indeed available with a manual (and auto). Not sure why i thought it wasn't. looking at the order sheet it says its not available with the 4 speed so the 5 speed was the only manual option for the L69. I even found some photos of 84 L69 5 speed.
