I see the the crossfire sticker once I enlarged the photo. I guessing that’s what you did Charlie. I love the pace cars, some day I will have one in my garage but I refuse to own a crossfire injection car.

It is a Crossfire Automatic. The issue with Crossfire was not the system it was the fuel quality that was available at the time it hit the market. Fuels in 1982-1984 were still formulated for carburetor equipped vehicles.
My Crossfire Pace car still starts up like a champ and runs fine and has very high dependability. The original owner was careful to use injector cleaner every third tank of fuel which kept the "normal" reported issues with the injection system to a minimum. Even when stored for long periods of time I can accurately predict as to when the engine will start after engaging the starter. It is that good even today.
My experience, however is reflective of a guy who was interested in CFI when it was new-and I figured out how to manage the maintenance of the engine and the fuel system to keep it reliable over the years.
The normal guy who just wanted to put gas in it and go in 1982-1984 had a much different ownership experience however and that is a fact.

I can honestly say that I too have owned both an '82 Pace Car and a '93. My father also had a 2002 Indy Pace Car. 1 of only 17 because the remaining cars were all rebadged as Brickyard 400 cars. Unfortunately, he sold the car many years ago and the dealership removed all of the decals. The last I saw, the car was sold in Seattle with over 100k miles, aftermarket wheels, and an owner that had no idea what he has.

i'm always amazed when people ask high prices for things on craigslist, but then have no information in the ad. maybe they're trying to weed out "time-wasters"??

I miss my 82 Pace car. Regret selling it maybe more than the other third gens I've sold. I had trouble with the CFI also so pulled the 305\th200 and put in a 350\th350. I'd love to have another one day.
