89 Iroc Vert 5sp vs 89 5.7
Probably beating a dead horse here but I’m to lazy to search. Anyway me and my buddy were debating on which car is worth more or let’s say will be more collectible in the long run...
A- 1989 IROC Z Convertible 5 speed manual transmission.
B- 1989 IROC Z hardtop 5.7 Automatic
transmission.
(A) all day for me! Verts are more rare and with a manual trans! Anybody feel differently!?

i would choose B .. a low mile mint 89 5.7 hardtop with n10 option is bringing good money now and will in the future .. but with that being said its all gonna depend on the condition of the car and what the buyer wants .. some like the 5.7 hardtops, some like the t-tops and some like the convertibles and some like the 5 speeds .. if its mint with low miles they all seem to bring good money ..

The hardtop would carry a higher value in the future. The convertibles are for cruising and the IROC-Z was a performance car. So, the bigger engine and stiffer body of the coupe will be where collector's lean. If you really want a collector that will have a high price, I think the '87 IROC-Z coupe will be the one to get. It had a one year only interior, only year you could get TTops with the 350 and the performance axle setup, and the last year for the more preferred decal placement and single slot wheels.

If thinking numbers wise, again, the '87 would probably have the highest demand as there were only 744 Z28 convertibles, which includes both Z28 and IROC-Z. Being the 1st year of the convertible's return after almost 20 years, you would think there would be high demand for this year, but there really isn't. The same is true for the 1990 model year where there were only 1254 IROC-Z convertibles. The 1990 was the last year for the IROC-Z and the 1st year for the new airbag and dash set up. But again, we don't see them going for more than the coupes.
