Anyone know a way to find out how many targa conversions were done in 1983
History / OriginalityGot a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!
Anyone know a way to find out how many targa conversions were done in 1983
We have a 1983 z28 305 4 barrel with a 5 speed thing is it has a targa top and we’re just starting to get it back in order she’s been neglected for a long while but I’m genuinely curious if there’s any way to find out how many targa tops were made with that combination etc.

Seeing the posts about Simon and Simon, I wanted to see more/better pics of a Targa example, so, I Googled S&S images and found this pic:
Looking at the door to fender panel gap, I'd say that the targa versions, while reinforced, was probably still a flexy flyer and certainly could have used a lot more strength in "bending" if not torsion and other modes. Yikes.

Put the tops on! It's about to rain on this parade, because to the original inquiry,

the answer is ZERO.
Targa tops didn't come from the factory. Such conversions would've been done by various chop shops around the country, either for dealerships, directly for car owners, or for/by a Universally renown movie studio.
That means the odds of any of them being the same combinations of options are a 2.36 million to 1. It's even unlikely that the few chopped by the studio were exact copies of each other; all that would've mattered was the color.
