IROC Indy??
IROC Indy??
Just browsing through these threads, I suddenly remembered, way back in 1988 or 90 some guy was cruising the local zone in a Late model 3rd gen convertable "Indy" camaro. I could swear it said IROC Indy. I think the color was white or yellow with orange graphics and it looked like the graphics from the '90 Indy Beretta. This car must be mega rare.
Any confirmation on this?

I know exactly what you mean, they were Arctic White '91 Z28 convertibles, I have 2 documented. They must have been "festival" cars at Indy in 1990 (1991 Camaros were intoduced in the spring of '90). There is nothing on these cars that indicate a special model, no RPO's, just a "Indy" decal on both doors in pink. VIN 1G1FP33F1ML111029 carried a #47 decal on the rear View mirror (I'm not 100% sure about the # location), the other car has a vin sequence about 10 cars behind. The first one I saw at a Chevrolet dealer about 10 years ago for sale as a used car, the other is a car that is serviced at the dealership I work for. I have a very bad picture of the first car, I can try post it . Chris
They're still doing this stuff today. I received some photos a few weeks ago of the 02 Pace Car Corvette and the 55 Festival car Camaros. They have been using Camaros decked out in Indy packages for years. Here's this years.

OK, here it is. i saw the car this weekend at Camaro Superfest. The person from Indianapolis that originally decal'd the car for the festival was as excited to see this car as the owner was to meet him. They found out that of the original 43 cars that were used as festival cars, this is the last one in existense. The owner had been trying to locate some information on this car and I introduced them to the guy that knows all about it. They decide this weekend to start trailering the car. This could be the very last 3rd gen Indy festival car left.

What do people do with these cars!?! Here we are just eleven years later and only ONE out of the 43 festival Camaros are left? That's amazing. Not in a good way unfortunately.
I thought the only Camaros to receive the body-colored accented (red, black, white) 16X8" wheels were the '92MY 25th anniv. cars. No?

Yeah Scott, that car was one of the first to catch my eye when it came into the lot this past weekend. I had to find out if it was real or not and it was good to hear that it was a true Indy car. John and Robyn have a beautiful car there... Here's a photo they carry with the car.
