Windsheild antenae
I wanna know if there was a year that had the build in antenae in the windshield. I wanna shave my antenae on the fender of my car, but I don't want totally crappy reception. I still want a antenae but not visually seen.
Run to your nearest Radio Shack, now! They won't be carrying car audio any longer, so I imagine they're also discontinuing this other cool thing they have.
For $5, it's essentially a car antenna plug, a ground strap, and a small roll of what almost looks like Scotch tape with a thin piece of wire in the middle.
You plug the plug into your radio of course, ground the strap, and run the "tape" up along one side of your windshield, and then across the top.
I have one in my car, and it works pretty good, even with my crappy Kenwood radio. (There will be a nice Delco back in there very soon.)
The Radio Shack antenna is far too long; you should probably cut it to the same 31" length that most car antennas are.

I just installed a '96 GM radio in my '83. I had read that some folks put their antenna under the dash, so I tried that. It works great - no problems with reception and the antenna is hidden under the dash panels. Now I gotta fill in the hole in the fender...
