I don't see the Supra part of it here. It is a Ferrari 308 from the doors back and a Ferrari Testarossa from the A-pillars forward. The car is a obvious attempt to make a Ferrari out of an F-body. Seeing how far it is it might be tough to take it back to original specs. But I agree with others here. Its a botched kit car attempt.

Yeah, I was gonna say it looks like a completly different kit from the door back.
I think it could look cool if you could get a different nose for it.

Meh....keep it. It's different, pretty cool and so '80's

Ditch those wheels. Don't sell them though. Sell them for scrap. That way they'll get melted down and never have to be seen again...lol!

Were you disappointed when you got the title and it read 'Firebird' instead of 'Ferrari'?

Re: rare bodykit

It's not too bad looking actually (from this angle), but it has to be finished to look decent.
I'd lower it a bit, put bigger wheels and a apply nice paint. But don't go putting Ferrari emblems on it, it will look ridiculous.
I can hardly see the "quality" of the job, but if it's Ok, you might consider trying to finish it.

Re: rare bodykit

I believe the question he is asking is does anybody know anything about the company that made that body kit? The car is missing the rear spoiler/decklid portion. I've seen other cars with that body kit on them before on the web, but never any real information about them.

Re: rare bodykit

honestly i usually kits on our cars, but that really doesnt look half bad. it needs "finished" (body panels lined up, lots of bondo more than likely, primer paint and some new wheels and tires) and itll look really nice i bet.

where the kit is from? i have no clue, i can honestly say ive never seen it before.

but just out of curiousity, what color are you looking at? (please dont say ferrari red) and what are the plans for the drivetrain and what not? if you tell us what you want the car to look like then maybe we'll understand and not hate the slight hack job that was done before.

I like it. I wish I knew what kit it was because I'd buy it. It has soooo much potential to be a cool looking cruising car. I wouldn't put it on my '91, but I've got my eye on a $200 roller that would be a perfect candidate.

Re: rare bodykit

looks like a Supra, Rustang, Ferrari combo...... put a less rounded front end on it and it would look pretty good with some work to it, IMO that front end is to much or a euro/rice look, even Ferrari s of the era had a boxy front end, prob a regular bird front end would look great with the other mods

Re: rare bodykit

its REALLY starting to gow on me now lol. you should go get some rear shots so we could see form a diff angle. i would REAALLLLY like it if it had some sort of spoiler. not sure what type of spoiler would 'fit' but not having one is a really big turn-off for me.

Re: rare bodykit

The answer to the color question is BFY bright friggen yellow. Id get some BMW lace style rims in black. Best way to finish that car out isto sand off the primer (since you dont know what it is, apply a sealer, and a skim coat of bondo OR high build urethanne/epoxy primer and blocksand it using a GUIDECOAT and more bondo...Another sealer coat and some bright paint. BLACK would be awesome with gold BBS or BMW rims

Re: rare bodykit

With a nice paint job and some body panel alignment, I believe that car could potentially be a good looking car.

But I have to ask, all that air that goes into the quarter panel? Does it go somewhere or is it closed off? Possibly make it a disc brake cooler.

You are looking at the front end of a Ferrari 355 and the rear of a Ferrari 308/328 (though I can't comment on the complete back end as there are no rear photos)

Re: rare bodykit

I was in Amsterdam in 1991 and saw two similar conversions side-by-side. One was red, the other was yellow. The only clue as to their being ThirdGens was the dash. Very sweet looking cars in person. Performance-wise, I don't think there was a lot of difference.

Don't criticize his ride. Yes he wants opinions. But not criticizm. It has potential and it will need a lot of work. its his first 3rd gen i presume and i hope he will love it. Its a different animal. The ones that criticize are only jealous they don't have one.

Re: rare bodykit

I've seen one of these in person because a local car lot used to have one for sale. It had the huge wing. Was bright orange or yellow-orange. The rear had taillights that were bolted on to the rear sheet metal, kind of like semi-truck tails or jeep tail lights, hard to explain.

Anyways, I would look for a company name printed somewhere. Look under the hood, in rear glove box, in the center console, on the rear hatch, etc.

Re: rare bodykit

Looks pretty interesting, obviously Ferrari inspired which is kind of a good thing. From the pics you've got, it has some nice lines, rear may be a different story though. As far as aftermarket kits for a Bird this is one of the better looking ones. Hey you're always going to get haters for body kits, but you like it so do some body and paint work and roll in it. Save the bright red and yellow for Ferrari and do something darker. Have fun with it. Later.

I would paint it, and drive it... Definately something that would get some attention...

Then I would buy some REAL Ferrari emblems and stick them on there...

Re: rare bodykit

I'm on board with the "the more I look at it the more I like it" group. It is different and unique, and I think it has the potential to look pretty cool all finished up. I do agree that the wheels need to go away, though this car would be a good candidate for some Z06 wheels and big brakes. An LS1 (budget allowing of course) and some italian red paint would do her just fine. Sorry I can't help with your technical questions, but I just wanted to add a little positive thinking.

P.S. I'd like to see a shot from the back of the car, I'm really curious how the rear is all tied together.

I like the body kit a lot, but agree the wheels have GOT to go. Put some gold GTAs on there (color-depending, of course), and you'd be good to go.

Does your area require amber turns?

If not, I'd go with reds, like the tails. Texas doesn't require amber turns on the rear.

That back is awesome! Just paint the rear valence black and the car another color! 599 GTB wheels would look pretty awesome on that car...if you got them for free cool car. keep us updated

Re: rare bodykit

I like the rear end. Very unique car, and I can't wait to see it all freshened up.

Re: rare bodykit

The Wheels must be a 5 spoke in my opinion, they were commonly used on Ferrari's... I agree that the The Style 86's that you have do not go...

get these rims and repaint them black, white, silver, gold, whatever. seriously a really cool car. I wouldn't change a thing about the body, just like everyone said, freshen it up and get it looking even more amazing.

Re: rare bodykit

I found this on craigslist
1986 Ferr@ri 328 GTS Turbo recreation. One of three prototypes produced before Ferrari shut them down. Same owner for last 15 years. Russo Corso (red) with tan leather interior. Italian style dash, Recaros, T-Top. This could be the best 328 recreation available for sale. More pictures available upon request. $16,995 but any reasonable offers will be considered. Email at Craigslist or call 850-566-2886.

It is similar, not exactly the same...

Re: rare bodykit

I will definitely say this.. its unique, but it kinda looks like one of the iterations of the Dodge Stealth

Is this it ?

Their are a few cars in here that it "could be" I thought it was a Tojan, but seemingly not. Whatever it is, it doesn't seem to be a one-off.
