Found IROC in yard today LOOK !

I found this IROC today in the junk yard. I dont know what year yet but I have the vin #1G1FP87H6GL18698 also I do not know what kind of motor is in it either. But someone here ac tell me all about it with the vin # . It came out a little blury on the camera but I think I posted it correctly. It is actually in impound but only 20 more days and the yard gets it. They talk like they expect to keep it. And thats where I come in ! Keep your fingers crossed! Taking orders for parts if ya see something ya need. I took plenty of pics so I can send pics by email if ya wanna see something. Front seats are torn , dash is cracked , rear seats are ok I think. Door panels are real nice but mine!

There is one digit missing from the VIN, there should be 17 digits.

I think the "H" denotes the 305 motor. And from the the looks of the car, i'd guess mid to late eighties.

The missing digit must be on the right in the very corner hard to read , I shoulda wrote it down instead of taking a picture.

I believe it's an 86 305 car built in CA. How much for the steering wheel, horn button and chin spoiler?

Why is that in a junkyard? That car is in good shape.

Hell, it's in better shape than mine is.

From the looks of it, it is an 85 carbed 305 that has been painted with the 88+ door trim and the 90+ Z28 wing.

I can't quote any prices yet because as I said above, it's in impound currently and the owner has about 20 more days to spring it out or the yard gets it to sell or part out. The dude told me to keep checking back and seems to think they will be getting to keep it. After it's for certain, I will then check prices and send to all that ask on this thread or email or pm me. I think it will be parted because the dude told me they would rather sell the whole doors as a set not just the door panels when I asked about it. But they could sell the whole car, I don't know yet. I'm just keeping my eyes on the yards here to not miss anything good while the weather is still nice. I'm gonna tear up alot this winter in my car and will need some stuff. Also check out the Camaro in the sky at this other yard, I don't know exactly what it is but of course its a 4th gen. I'm waiting for them to get it down as they need to pull the motor. They are trying to keep the vultures like me away. I'll be watching for it as well.

**Duke It's only being parted in my mind right now,as I said the owner has time to come get it. The whole car may be sold as is. I don't think they sell cheap though, They have several cars out front for sale, kinda high priced.

Dude, don't part it. That car is in good shape. Buy it and fix it for a daily or something.

Edit: I know I damn sure would, I use my 83z as a DD and it looks no where near as good as that one, although mine mechanically runs pretty good, and has low mileage on the engine.

Edit x2: If they are willing to sell the whole car, let me know how much they want for it. I'm about done paying for my car, and I want to find another car to drive.. although I prefer to find something for gas mileage, this car is in too good of shape to pass up.

They still have it and said today that they couldn't sell it whole but could part it out. Then he said unless ya wanna give me $2500 for the whole thing. I thought it was too much and I'd rather they part it for that but what do you guys think? Let me know if interested, parts or whole car.

well, it would be a shame for that car to go to waste in pieces. That car is in better shape than mine was when i bought it. But, if it comes down to it im interested in the front nose and lower chin as a whole. lemme know what happens. as far as the 2500, does it run? If all seems functional it might be worth it. that guy seems to be yankin your chain for money though

I paid 2800 for mine, and it's in near-mint condition. That guy is seriously overpricing that. He probably won't get that for parts from it either.

thats expensive..
since its 305 it'll be pretty hard to get back what u paid for
from parting it out either caz most likely non of the items are aftermarket anwyays.

i think its a good car to get some parts out of,
such as spoiler and stuff but as a whole car,
u'd be better off looking somewhere else
and find a better deal.

The car isn't in horrible condition. It's not in great condition ether, but if you got him to lower it to 1500 or even 2000, it wouldn't be a bad buy. The interiors a little rough, and the hood is shot, but everything else exterior looks great. Could be a good car with some TLC.

I paid $1800 for mine, and that one is in better shape than when I bought mine. Mine also has a fresh engine, with aftermarket parts though..

If he would go for 1500 or 2000, I personally would jump on it. Seems pretty descent to me.

I don't think that's a true IROC, I think it's just a put-together 82-84. The seats, front end, motor, and steering wheel are all wrong. It should have a fog light grill, TPI, leather wrapped steering wheel (the rubber is a berlinetta wheel, I know because that's what I put in my IROC... little cheater to get away from sticky, oozing leather). It's still a nice car, nontheless. Save it! Don't part it!

Ok its ready to part, he has to part it, the car was on impound so he can't sell it except for parts. I guess it's a title thing. I don't know thats his problem not ours. The owner had so many days to claim it and didn't. pm me or email rcar7395@sbcglobal.net for parts wanted. And I will check on thes listed above. He wanted me to bring a list to him and sell big parts like whole doors included with panels, deck lid with spoiler and so on. I haven't had much time lately, works been busy and I called at the last minute before closing and forgot to price wheels and some requests above. So he said bring him a list. And I will print this off and take it to him. Maybe it isn't a true IROC as stated above I have no idea what they came with, all I know is it says it on the car as you can see. You decide what parts ya want, whatever it is!
