I'm looking for a shift ****, doesn't even need to have the button, but it must be from an '82, and it must have the metal piece in the bottom. I don't want any other years since it was a one year part. Also, looking for the shifter mechanism, also a one year part since it was a 3 speed auto.

If anyone has these, or can get it I'd appreciate it.

here is a pic of the ****. They were only on '82's, and were also found in Grand Prix's of the same year. Maybe some other models as well, but I know the Grand Prix for sure.

Found the round 8 ball looking version.Shifting mech console insert with gear indicator and all.***** cracked alot but still works.Think might have been an 82 have to go back check vin ta be sure.This what ya lookin for?

No, that isn't it...check the pic above for what I'm looking for. I believe what you have is from a Camaro. I know the early third gen camaro's had a "ball" type shift ****.

I too am looking for the same thing for an auto 82 firebird s/e, I need the pin that holds the shift to the shifter (ie - I wanna keep the damn button and pin from jumping out of the shifter everytime I change gears!).

GM parts said to look for the "triangle attachment to the bottom of the shifter pin"?

Any help is appreciated. Boneyards and ebay have come up dry for months.
