What is that for?

It is a plastic piece that goes behind the contact on the hatch it is connected to the hatch plastic itself but slides off

I'll see if I can find one once I get home later this evening.

FYI,.... Later year hatch back trim panels do not use this piece @ the contact pad hole; the panel was re-designed & I think the change was made somewhere around 88-89.

I've had 12 firebirds and have never seen this.
