need idea on how to remove the raised shift pattern square
I need to remove the raised shifter patern square on the shift plate, I have a rectangular aluminum 6 spd patern that I want to put there but its bigger then the square thats already there and the edges will overlap enough where it will look stupid. plus it will get ruined if the edges are like that. I need to shave the plastic down somehow w/o ruining the surrounding pattern of the plate. Got any good ideas? Im thinking the best is a very steady hand and a dremal with a sanding roll on it. I cant ruin this thing because we all know how rare and expensive they are to replace.

I'll second that...might use a ruler/combo square and mark on each side how much you want to take off.

Cut a square in something like say a very thin metal sheet... exactly the size of the square. Place the sheet around the hole and go to down shaving it down.
Just an idea to help protect the surrounding area.
