Transmission: 700R4 with B&M Lockup
Axle/Gears: Moser 28-spline axle; 3.23 gears
Window track question
I'm in the process of installing a new passenger window in the door...the original finally broke.
The manual is really helpful--"due to the requirements for special handling techniques, window glass should be replaced by a dealer or auto glass shop."
Getting the old glass out was easy enough
. I see the attachment guide for the old piece still there, and I was paying close attention as to how it comes out so I'd know how to install the new one. The track has a scissor-like apparatus with rollers that ride inside the window's attachment guide.
My question is--how do you remove the rollers (attached to the door) from the guide that would normally be attached to the window. I took off the guide attached to the door (by the door handle), and that allowed me to angle the window's hardware enough to get the roller closest to the rear of the car loose. For the roller closest to the front of the car, it looks as though I'll have to dremel the head of the pop-rivet a bit to allow the roller to come out of the track. I know that can't be right--that means I'd have to do the same to the 'new' window.
Anybody have any tips for me? I would really appreciate it. It's getting cold outside, and this is my daily driver for now!

That I can't follow the details of your description, is more of a reflection
on me, than you. But... I've got an 81 camaro that I've removed
the windows in without cutting rivet heads, and a 90 formula that
WILL need rivets cut to remove for service/replacement. These rivets
are bigger than anything I've seen in Lowes. But remember, they were
probably chosen for ease of factory assembly. I intend to replace with
small bolts and nylon lock-nuts. (I'm also **** enough to use the more
expensive stainless versions, which usually come from a marine supplier
like West.)

Hey yzarcem,
You didn't mention if your window is power or manual but I don't think it
matters. You shouldn't have to cut the rollers off the regulator assembly
to get it out.On my power windows- I drilled out four rivets ( 1/4" dia. btw )
and collapsed the assembly - or folded it together, if you will,and carefully
guided it thru the hole in the sheetmetal on the door. Now,reassembly was
tricky because the rollers you mention have to be positioned just right to
fit into the tracks. This can get frustrating real quick due to the weight of
the window and the clumsiness of the mechanism. Best thing to do is get a
buddy to help hold the window up while you work on the roller/track
alignment.Oh, and it really helps to save the libations until AFTER the job
is done - trust me I know. Hope I could help!
