I don't have neons, but I do have red led lights where the courtesy lights are under the dash. The part above the floorboards (where your feet go) the thing is, they only light up when I open the door. I'm sure those could be wired to light up when the interrior lights are on, but I prefer they do light up only when the doors are opened since thats the only time someone is going to see them besides me and it would get annoying after a while...

doesnt your headlight switch have a dimmer? if your switch is like mine, you can turn the **** to the left and it turns on the interior lights. turning to the right will dim the gage lights. how is it in your trans am? im sure theres something there, even my 1980 F150 works like my 87 camaro.

For my lights, I don't have a ****, its more like a small panel to the left of the gauges and to right of their a/c vent. There is a wheel that can be moved up and down that controls the dim feature, and below the wheel there is a botton that turns on the headlights..(as they flip up)

basicly my lights turn on thats about it , nothing else works on the light but turn on and go

no guage lights either but i am used to feeling the car for speed limit i dont even look at my guages but that is another reason i was gonna run some neon's (white or purple)

high beams dont even work

My 92 didnt have courtesy lights so I put some in that ran off a switch in my ashtray compartment. I also mounted some under the front seats and used green bulbs (match the exterior)

Nice little green glow thats not really in your face and just as easy to turn off

My digi cam doesnt take good pics of lights so i cant help ya

Somethin fun I did on my 89 was to take the dash trim off and stuff some lights down the AC vents and used red bulbs. I hooked into the factory courtesy lights so every time you opened the door the vents got a deep red glow kinda like a furnace

Ive found Advance has a TON of wierd little turn signal bulb colors

Heres mine. Day pic..but you can see where the driver side is mounted. Unfortunately, at least for me I couldnt put it anywhere else that was more secluded. The passenger side is a diff story. That can mounted all the way int he back. Just be sure to tell your passenger not to kick it!

Mine are setup to be sound sensitive. Lights bounce with my subs. Thought it would be annoying, but got used to it.

I have two red 12" tubes underneith each bucket seat and they look awesome. They give enough light to see things on the floor but they also dont blind other people. Plus when you can see a neon bulb it just looks like a rookie put them in. Under the seats makes it look much more cleaner.

Little LED's placed in the right spots for a little amount of light to see things is not a bad idea, I have thought about trying it sometime for light in those places that are hard to see, but having neon tubes in your car is just pure gheyness.

I don't drive that Cavalier anymore, been a long time since I have driven that car, my mom drives it now. I should just delete that page or make it very well known that is not my car anymore, everyone tries to use that against me. And, might I ask what is wrong with driving a Cavalier? Good A to B cars, good gas mileage, economy car, nothing more.

And because of the fact that I used to drive a Cavalier means that I can't put in my own comment about neon tubes being gay, because they are gay. What is the point in them, especially 24" long tubes. They are retarded, they have no function or use in a car. You can't insult me because I used to drive a Cavalier, there's just no logic to it. That's like me making fun of you for wearing a shirt or something, it's dumb.

HCR, if you move that wheel ALL THE WAY UP, it will turn your interior lights on. Turn the wheel all the way up to the brightest setting, it'll stop. Then push it up a little more, and you'll feel it "bump", and your interior lights will come on

funnyas$ thread. I dont think they are "gay". They may be incredibly practical, but so is owning a third gen to begin with so...

anyways, I wired mine up to the fuse box so they turn on and off with the ignition. The effect at night is really cool looking and everyone who has seen them in real life love it.

Hey I got a question, can neons be wired to come on when you open your doors only and when you turn the **** for the dome light to come on? . Oh and 1 more thing sorry, If the neons are wired to the battery are you running them outside the door or under the car (pedals)?

Thanks so much =)

They can be wired to the dome. The only way I know of doing that is tapping into the power wire on the dome switch or the power going to the depressor switch on the door.

If you are running it straight off the battery, you need to run it through the firewall into the engine bay.

Thanks so much for your fast reply, Just what I needed! Sounds cool, ya I was thinking it had to be the dome light since I know I don't have under dash lights to tap into. Where would you recommend tapping into the dome you think, if you know. Im still learning not all that great with wiring. Tyvvvm

My car was not "daddys gift" to me. I haven't known my dad at all my whole life, so STFU. I paid for my ****ing car, I pay for my own insurance, I pay for my own work to my car. I pay for everything I buy, do NOT make assumptions about me that you have no idea what you are talking about. I ****ing hate little ***** like you that assume everyone had their parents buy their **** for them. There is nothing wrong with driving a Cavalier either you ***, they are cheap, easy to work on, good gas mileage.. sure they are a chicks car but I don't give a ****, it ran. That's all that matters. Get a clue, seriously.

Well, I haven't tapped into those wires myself, but I would look for the power wire hooked up to the depressor switch on th inside of the door sill (right by the door hinge). This way every time you open the door, the neons turn on with it.

If you want it to turn on with the dome light switch, there should be a wire going from your switch up to the light. That would be the wire to tap into. Not sure if you can do both? I would have to see how the wires are ran (I kinda just take apart my car and learn as I go...lol). Its not difficult really, just sounds it.
Lemme know how it goes.

You thought it would be better to personally insult me when I insulted a material object, that's what's getting me all worked up. I got all worked up over the Cavalier comments because well, everyone talks crap about me driving a Cavalier and it just gets annoying..

Anyways, personally the reason I think neons aren't very nice is because they are big, bulky, and they put out too much light. A few properly placed LED's would not be so bright you can't see at night, and they would light up just what you want them to light up. I like them because they are cleaner too, with neons you have this huge tube showing, LED's can be hidden very nicely.

ok well its all water under the bridge, i didnt think anyone would take my smart *** comments so personally, and i am also very tired of getting the ohh neons are gay blah blah blah comment from mainly people on the net evey one who see em in person loves am especially the ladies ........any ways i do agree with u that the neons can be very bulky and leds also but in may case the 24 or 20 i forget the actual size but there pertty long, inch led tubes i have fit right at the bottom of where the carpet and under dash plastic meet so in the day there not really a hassle or noticeable, and at night they point at the carpet so the light reflects off the and the ground looks lit up, i think if u can see the tube it looks really shady...

I think the point is Cavaliers are chick cars. They should come with lipstick holders in the center console. However, I think neon tubes are stupid as well. I don't care that they serve no "performance increase", its that it makes your car look like Times Square.

People can do what they want with their car. I don't think you should come into this thread and say neons are gay. I think everyone should just drop it. If you do not like neons they why are you looking at this thread. And for the Cavalier dude...The lip stick holder in the center console can have many purposes like a small led flashlight. I would'nt make fun of his car because it is his car and at least it isn't an import.

I've got...

I've got 2 blue neons, one under driver/one under passenger side. And also, 4 LEDS behind each sail-panel. (customized sail-panels, they have no cardboard waffle cut stuff in front of the speaker and re-covered them in new material) When they turn on there is a circular glow around where the speaker is. I'll have to take pics tomorrow night (Friday night) and I'll put em up right after.

BTW, I installed a seperate switch for them and got the power from an empty fuse slot.

I actually hardly ever have them on, but they're fun ometimes, mostly just to people who are seeing my car for the first time. I also have two white LED strobes that flash over my subs, those get turned on even less. The neons and strobes are on the same power but I put a seperate switch for the strobes on the sub box since they're illegal to have the strobes on while driving.

It may be illegal to have them on while driving, but with my window tint, no one can see my neon in the back or in my footrests for that matter so I keep them on all the time.

Hell, I put a red neon in my RamAir Vents a few months ago in the front of the car and keep that on all the time too. I've passed a lot of cops since then with it on and they never pull me over, at least not yet.

Why dont you just drill a small hole between light switches and put a seperate switch in middle. You can get the switches that light up pretty cheap. Run hot side to fuse box and spade in with interior lights then go to ground wires with should be under dash or tie into common on radio. That way you can turn on lights when you want them and turn off when the "man" pulls you over, because in most states the are illegal. Lay off the cavalier slamming, that girl is gettting upset.

Quick Reply: interior neon led's
