Making Quiet

Im looking for the best sound deadener available. Money is no problem just looking for something that works. Would prefer a spray on that goes on like paint. Not cheap undercoating stuff.

dynamat, tests show that they are good stuff but its expensive and you lay it on inside your interior. if your gonna paint on a sound deadener, its gotta be pretty thick...you wanna paint spray this on the inside or the outside of your car?

Obviously the inside when all the rug/plastic is out... It doest have to be thick i know i remember one company sold liquid sound deadener that you sprayed on. It was like $170.00 a gallon and a gallon did pretty much the whole car. The liquid kind is so much lighter then dynomat too.

Anyone else know anything about this topic?

Thanks,

There's a guy in the "body" forum that is doing a 4th gen dash swap and he used quote "Peel and Seel" roofing material from Lowe's. Here is the thread link https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/body/381141-well-starting-swap-92-a.html
and look for the post made on [01-03-2007, 10:05 PM] by cdoyle (there is a corresponding pic too)
I myself am considering using this stuff...

linky no worky.
just about anything works for sound deadening, but usually ppl who use it are meaning to get a better sound from their stereo, for me i like to have an open car so i can hear the pavement moving under my feet. one of my buddies used that spray stuff, ya its pretty cheap compared to other methods and it seems to be ok. i like it.

Do the links work now? I'm not good with these html codes and links and technology...I'm still into grease, grimme, and octane...

Just to let you guys know, that yeah the Peel and Seal Will work, I'm not sure how much noise it deadens because I have yet to drive the car. But definately don't use it on anything besides the floorboards/trans tunnel/rear cargo area. If you use it on the roof/side panels/sides it will eventually fall off. It is a cheap alternative to dynomat so it would be much better just to leave it on the floors and use something like dynomat or something else made for this purpose on the roof/sides. I just thought I would let you guys know this, our cars are extremely loud on the inside so an effort to quiet it down will be beneficial. Maybe Raamat under the carpet would help out alot also I've heard good things about that stuff.

Anyone ever try that stuff? OR the FATMAT they sell on ebay. Seems pretty cheap and sounds like it would work good.

Looking at the Elemental Designs webpage their products look to be of high quality. Any ever use their stuff before.
Thinking of buying 2 gallons of the liquid and 140SQ FT of sound deadening???

This deadening is all new to me.

Thanks,

I have personally used FATMAT and it does wonders for systems. I have a explorer I lined the doors, ceiling, back hatch, It has been a year and hasn't fell off yet. GREAT STUFF would prefer it over dynamat anyday.

Look at their site www.fatmat.com and check it out for yourself.

Easy to apply to just clean the surface and press on. You get a little plastic roller with it and it breaks very easy. Looks cool too.

I like it and it woked so well some of my friends got it and they love it.

If anybody interested I have a roll left from our bulk order.

It actually looks like it would be pretty good. I'm usally one to go for the tried and true (dynamat), but sometimes there are other better choices out there.

How is the weight compared to dynamat? I know that dynamat is actually pretty heavy. I am doing weight reduction on my 92, but I'm not willing to sacrifice great deals of comfort for a small gain in performance.

For example, a buddy of mine here has a '99 TA with an LS6 intake, headers, exhaust, whisper lid and ported MAF (no engine mods or power adders). He took out the stereo (all of it), heater (all of it), A/C (all of it....basically the entire hvac system), the carpet and seats (except driver). With just the weight reduction he's runing 11.97 with slicks at 3500 ft in altitude.

Compare that to my '02 WS6 14.06 with 4.10 gears, whisper lid and exhaust (stock weight) at 5500 ft where he's running a 12.21 here at 5500 ft. And mines a RamAir and his isn't.

But at the same time, I would ever live without the heater, a/c, some sound deadening, and music.

I've never used their stuff, but I always hear great things about elemental designs. I hear their sound deadening products are great along with all of there other products. I also found somewhere that if you search "forum" in the little search bar on the site, you can get some discounts
