4th gen sest headrest removal

Anybody know how to pull the headrests off? I wanna get them embroidered with the GTA logo or something, but I don't see how they come out to begin with.

Gain access to the back of the seat by removing the cover. On each of the two posts that go down into the back from the headrest is basically a "C" clip. Take those clips off, and it'll pull right up and out.

When I DO get them recovered, I doubt the clips will be going back in!

Why remove the headrest? Undo the clip on the bottom and remove the cover, have it redone and then put the cover back on.

I'll look into that. Thanks! Mine are actually in good shape, I'm just wanting an embroidery or something of that type. I know I can get the embroidery done for free, so I figured I'd try that.

Mine are from a 93 TA. A previous owner put them in. I found a set of black leather GTA seats, but I don't have any $ to buy them. I think he wanted $400 for the seats, front and rear, solid back, not split.

It turned out, a previous owner sold off the crosslace wheels, and put custom ones on there. The guy after him put crosslace wheels back on. But, they are the 88+ style, not the 87 only ones. Since mine is a 87, I want the right ones. I've found black 87 ones, but no gold ones.

Hmm, 6 months ago I would have had a set of gold 16" GTA rims from an 87 for ya.

About the seats, you might look for some from a newer Trans Am. Covers anyway. The 93's still use the hog rings in the back to hold the fabric to the frame, where the newer ones bascially slide over the seat, then clip to themselves at the bottom of the back or the bottom of the seat. I got a set of covers from an 00 Trans Am, MUCH easier to put on/remove if need be.

They are both 16 x 8s. The only difference is the "dimples" on the spokes, near the lip. 87s are flat and don't have the dimples, 88+ do.

That sucks...I gave up looking, so now I have 2 88+ sets!

My seats themselves are fine, I was just thinking of getting the headrests embroidered, on the existing fabric, and putting them back on. Oh well.
