replacing plastic seatbelt shoulder guide

Do you have to remove the seatbelt stitching to slide these on? I find it hard to believe that they were assembled with the plastics on there from the factory, but can't see how I would get them on.
Thanks,
Sam

The ones you speak of, yes, it appears they were installed at factory as belt was being assembled. Easiest thing is to cut them off, trash them, and get replacements like those in the link below - these bolt up diectly in the same holes, and they split apart to install over belt - look close and you can see the split:

I thought he was referring to the guide at the very top that plugs into the roof. I can't see how that comes apart either, and one of the clips on mine broke.

the replacements for those that I have seen have a slit for them. One of the vendor sponsors sells them.

Not all - in my 1990 and 92 there is a completely different "loop" on the seat top - it's a double loop, so that a shorter person can pull the belt through the lower loop and get the belt off their neck. These have no slots, they were put on before the final stitch (and they are ugly lol).

The roof guides must have been put on before the final stitch as well - as mentioned the replacements have a slit in them to install - you can also get them from the boneyard and carefully cut a slit yourself to get them off and reinstall them.

Ah. You're right. I know what you are talking about but had forgotten about them. Aren't the 4th gen ones like that too? I have black seat belts from a 92 Formula but I don't remember what they have for guides, they are sitting in a box somewhere.

Re: replacing plastic seatbelt shoulder guide

I cut a slit in the roof plastic piece, nobody notices it, did the same with the 4th gen style guides on the seats.
