Ok. I've been recently watching auctions for console parts and have seen various buttons located in the consoles above the radio/ac control units.

Does anyone here know what these buttons and slider controls? I can't seen to get a straight answer out of anyone that is offering these items for sale. My 87 does not have any of those extra buttons, so I have no idea what they go to.

If your talking about a firebird, the switch is for the back hatch release and the slider is for the subwoofer option.

Yea, for the firebird.

This is a image of what I am talking about. I guess that answers my questions though. The second one there must be for the rear defrost but there is still a third option there. The hatch release is on the otherside of the steering column.

Re: 3rd Gen console buttons.
Older model firebirds had a foglight switch, subwoofer slider, rear defrost, and hatch release

Each could be deleted it the option was not installed, and a specific delete plate filled the hole

Later models had no subwoofer option

On my GTA to the left of the steering column is the foglight switches and to the right is the subwoofer switches and the rear defrost and then the hatch release.
