From Grey And Cloth Interior...To Black And Vinyl Interior!!!!

Ever since I have owned my car I wanted "Leather" looking seats and a black interior, well, being stuck with gray plastic and gray cloth seats, I finally decided to do something about it....

I decided to have my seats re-covered, and thanks to a thread I saw not too long ago, I knew EXACTLY how I wanted my seats to look...

Once my seats were at the shop getting redone, I then looked long and hard for black interior panels....and with no luck I had only one choice....To Paint!!

I then started to strip my interior clean....all the plastic trim from my kick panels back were GONE... (Dont have a picture of that though lol)

As you can see, my seats were getting kinda old and ratty looking, not including the rip on the driver's seat...

Re: From Grey And Cloth Interior...To Black And Vinyl Interior!!!!

I then cleaned each plastic piece with soap and water, then with mineral spirits to get off any oil...

I used KRYLON Fusion paint, the stuff meant for plastic, and to be honest, I took a huge gamble by hand painting it, but end the end, I'm glad I did, yeah there's some mistakes here and there, but not noticeable unless your REALLY close to the paint...

----------
And then a week and a half later, my seats were done...

I could not be more happy with the way they turned out....

One last pic...

As of now my interior is about 95% done, the ONLY thing left is to find some black GTA door panels and have the cloth section on those redone in vinyl as well...

Tell Me What You Think!!!!

The seats look great. BUT...I would have used flat or semi gloss black so you don't have so much gloss on the panels. I have painted plastics before with flat black krylon and they come out factory looking with a nice calm finish. Of coarse if you like the gloss disregard my comment

Why? Flat black on plastic dosen't look or feel like a chalk board. It looks satin and stock.

oh, that seems like a lot but i bet it took a long time for them to do it. Ill probably just go with a newer seat of camaro/ta leather seats.

I like the seats. The vinyl looks better than the OEM cloth did. I have leather and it is the best but yours looks nice.

Re: From Grey And Cloth Interior...To Black And Vinyl Interior!!!!

I like the seats, but I think the interior panels look very cheap because they're way too shiny. I've used that Krylon stuff and I hate it for that reason. For a 100% stock appearance, you can't beat SEM Landau black. There's no better interior paint that you can get from a spray can.
