Headliner color question , everyone come on it .

Otay i got an 85 ta with gray seats , the two tone seats . I think its medium dark gray , Is it ? I need a new headliner and want to get the right color . Also does anyone have a black headliner with a gray interior ? And do you think it would look stupid to have a black headliner ? Im not going to install the visors im gonna put a little triangle shaped plate there the size the the stock three hole holder. SO what do you think , i need answers, thanks guys .

Personally, I'd rather have the matching gray headliner. If you don't match the sail panels to the headliner, that would look strange, and if your sail panels don't match the plastic around them, that too would look strange. Right now I'm in the middle of converting my IROC interior from gray to graphite, so I've got the darker headliner & sails with the regular gray plastics, and that area looks odd.

As for covering the visor holes, when you buy the new headliner, the fabric will be covering the visor holes, so it should look good enough that you won't need to screw around with installing any covers. If you're recovering your stock headliner, you can likewise just leave the fabric over the holes.

I'm dyeing my headliner black, or replacing it with a stock black one. Currently mine is tan and it looks terrible being tan. I did this in my cavalier (tan dyed to black) and it looks great!

I definetly would keep your headliner the same color as the rest of the interior. It would look much better that way.

If you've got the regular gray interior, most people prefer the "Medium Dk. Gray" material shown below, though some choose the Med Dk. Pewter". In the jpg the colors look really different, but in reality they're pretty similar. The Gray has more of a blue-ish tint than the pewter. My factory material was sort of halfway between the two colors. I used the gray for my headliner and it looked great in the car, but the pewter looks great too. If you're replacing everything (headliner, visors & sails), either will do the trick.

Damn, beat me to it.

A typo sent a very wrong message. LOL. I was thinking, should I say something, or ... than I read this , and I was like DAMN. LOL

Anyways, usually matching stuff looks a lot better than missmatches, or "tried to match other things" stuff. I think you will be most happy with a clean matching install as opposed to a clean with a black head liner... Thats just me.
