Mounting Ideas?
Well, today I got the idea of taking out my ash tray and putting a three switch panel for fog lights, interior neons, and security system in it. My dilemma is that I can't quite figure out a good way to make it so that the switch panel will be able to raise and lower either manually or automatically so that the ash tray can still be closed. I am planning to use short-lever toggle switches so the panel will have to lower at least 1.5 inches. I am sure that this has been done before probably for NOS or something. I am thinking of a panel like this one.

Re: Mounting Ideas?
You could build a bracket to make the switch plate sit lower so the door closes. You'll still be able to feel the switches.
Re: Mounting Ideas?
Ignore the dust
I cut out the majority of the bottom including the divider for the tray and lighter
There wasnt room for the bottom of the switched and wiring with the floor in place
I thought the base was kinda messed up so I took a small piece of HVAC ducting (house not automotive) and cut and bent it into shape
I didnt have any paint so i (halfassed) wrapped it in electrical tape
Not the prettiest job, but it works
Noone ever sees it so I never bothered to fix it
Left is Coolant fan. Right is interior lights since 92's didnt get courtesy lights

Pocket that looks very good. The only different thing I would have done is use rockers switches(if there's room).Stacey David did sometthing similar on "Trucks" with "Copperhead" if anyone has seen her.Using a relay accuated by the switch allows you to use a slightly smaller switch - just a thought. Also you could use the '85-up stock for light switch location for your lights.

You wont have the cut the bottom out to fit rocker switches in there
I couldnt find (didnt care to look) rocker switches in the amp range for my coolant fan that looked ok

Thats what I am looking to do. Looks great. The only differences in what I want to do is to have switches with the shield on them and have the mounting platform move up and down (even if I just have to pull/push on it). My car is also a camaro, but I doubt that will change much. Thanks for the ideas
