84 rear split seats in an 89?

I was wondering if anyone has done this swap. I just bought some 84 TA seats and have already added the bar on the hump, now here’s my problem. My car has the shoulder belts and the 84 seats were set up for lap. I took apart my 89 rear seats and the mod looks nearly impossible to add shoulder belts to 84 seats? I guess I can add lap belts to my 89 but that leave those big boxes in the rear that hide the shoulder belts. If you have done this successfully or have and ideas or opinions I would appreciate any and all feedback.
Thanks

you can get split rear seats from a later car (my friend's 91 has them) which are tapped for the rear shoulder belt loop. Swapping your seat covers over to those would be the easiest way without swapping the plastics for lap belts. Then again, do you really need the little loop to hold the rear belt? they probably aren't used that often and will work just fine without them.

It sounds easier to swap the plastics, and will look better. But now you gotta do the headliner too.
