Re: rear of console ashtray

nevermind,i found them....30 bucks each, figures that it would be ina camaro catalog only instead of both firebird and camaro catalogs (and yes, it is from the same company too....classic industries) i guess they realized that these ashtrays never came in firebirds lol oh wait......i guess then they'd also realize they'd be wrong

Re: rear of console ashtray

I got a spare 3rd gen Firebird/TA/Formy atock console ash tray. Youre talking about the flip open one right?
May need to be refinished but it isnt junk and its complete with the housing and flip out.
Ill have to go to my storage and get a pic if you need one.

Re: rear of console ashtray

i need the one from the rear of it, from like the back seats....thank you though, i was thinking about it pretty much all night and for 30 bucks for an ashtray (i had a feeling it was gonna be expensive lol) i figured i might as well just take the one i have now and make a fiberglass mold of it....i came up witha couple different ways to mount it too so i think i'm just gonna fab something up maybe sometime next week....hopefully fiberglass isnt too expensive lol

Re: rear of console ashtray

lol yeah thats it....i looked at it again and its probably best not to replace the ashtray itself, but instead unscrew it and replace the whole unit so thats what i'm going to do lol....so now i gotta get a little bit more familiar with fiberglass lol....ihave a feeling that this is going to be hard lol

Re: rear of console ashtray

i'm very confused... how are you making a cupholder out of that tiny ashtray? and why would you be looking to buy one if you're putting a cupholder in it's place?

Re: rear of console ashtray

Dual cup holders, using the ash tray mount...

Wouldn't they be kinda too far back, to be useful? I can't imagine having to put a drink that far back there.

Re: rear of console ashtray

see i personally dont mind it....i figure outta sight, and outta mind lol...plus i want to put these in without having to damage anything on my car...liek drilling holes in the dash or anything, i have soem switches in here already but i dunno....plus i was thinking about making these swivel sothat they can come up over the console or i can just turn it aroudn so that its not in the way of anything....eitherway i dont mind it being that far back

Re: rear of console ashtray

I would reinforce the back side of the console that the part is to screw/mount to. The OEM console is brittle plastic at best.
