possible switch?

is it at all possible to put power windows/locks/hatch into my barebones 85 IROC? Idealy without replacing the doors themselves, and im in the dark as to the hatch. I'm 16 and on a limited budget of cash and tools haha

Re: possible switch?

I just did this to my 84, since I was upgrading to a 92 dash. The new dash had all the wiring there, so it really made things easy for me.

But to add windows, you'll need the power window motor assembly. It's a pain in the butt to install, so get ready to get your arms scratched up! (lol)

Door locks are a piece of cake, I used aftermarket actuators and then got the factory switch and spliced it into it.

Once you get all the parts, you kinda see how it works.

I also added power mirrors too

I have a thread on here where I did it all. Look for a thread named 84 to 92 dash swap (or something like that)

oh for the power hatch, do you mean the electric release or the electric pull down?

Mine actually came with the electric release, I think all you would need to do to add it to yours is get the actuator for that, and the switch. Run power to it, and just hook everything up.

That is the nice things about our cars, everything seems to fit all years.

I put the shorty areo spoiler on mine (I think that was an 88 style??), anyways it had the spoiler light in it. Well my car actually had the bracket to where the contact hooks too. So I didn't have to try and rig something for that connector.

I found that odd, since 3rd brake lights didn't come out til 86 and I don't think they came in the hatch on a 3rd gen til 87..

Re: possible switch?

Ya i'm pretty new to all this too.

I decided last summer to go ahead and do the dash swap (dash had been sitting in my garage for years). Then I decided might as well get new carpet, and now I've decided to totally restore the car, and do some cool things with it too.
