4th gen door panels

i know. search.
i have a couple specific questions about the swap that i havent found.

does the window glass have to be removed for this project?
do you use the 4th gen or 3rd gen door handle rods/door lock rods?

thirdgen door window rods. Glass can stay. Cutting and pounding interior part of the thirdgen door helps the 4th gen door panel fit better. I used Shr00m's thread as a guide.
