Custom Door panels
I am looking to get a set of custom made door panels. I seen a thread on here somewhere about a company that sells panels with a firebird logo on them, I cannot seem to find the thread now, can anyone help me out?

Re: Custom Door panels
Doorpanels for the 3rd gen's are way too easy to make,I have done several set's over the year's.But I do know of the company you are talking about that has the ABS plastic one's with the screaming chicken on them,I will look through my catalog's today and see who it is and I will post back up here.

I had no luck finding the one's with the Firebird embossed in them, but I do have a place you might want to check out......www.roddoors.com
They make ABS plastic door panel's with flames and other design's in them, and you might be able to have them make you a set with the Firebird in them.

Re: Custom Door panels
Those custome made door panels are sweet. My question would be how did you reattach the plastic part that holds them from the top? You know, that long black plastic piece with the weatherstripping.
Re: Custom Door panels
Super Glue, real short screw's with a washer.Run the screw into the the stub of the removed retainer's,pull it back out and put the washer on and put some super glue on the thread's of the screw. And yes it will hold.

Re: Custom Door panels
Hello Junior,
My door panels are warped from water pretty bad. I would like to make my own. What kind of material is the actual panel made from? Is it like a thin particle board or similar? Just need to know what it is called. Thanks!

Re: Custom Door panels
I scored a set of nice black deluxe door panels that I'm having a shop replace the black cloth insert with gray suede. I had them redo the sunvisors and rear spaker covers already. It'll look sweet when it's all done.

Re: Custom Door panels
my door panels are destroyed due tue the previous owner leaving the windows down in the rain. I plan on doing some door panels from scratch. i'd also like to know how other people have done it. hopefully that could save me alot of time.
Re: Custom Door panels
The best panel material would be either ABS plastic or marine plywood- it is treated to reduce damage from water. Then use the old one as a pattern... if you are using screws and washers to reattach the top trim, do what I did- sleeve the plastic stud you are screwing into with a short piece of brass tubing, cut to fit. I got some at the hobby store and epoxied it around the stud. That stops it from splitting when you screw into it- hold great.
