i am going to look at a set of 1996 camaro seats that a guy is going to sell to me for 150 + my old seats. my seats are torn, stained and burned from previous owner. the guy just want some seats in his parts car. my question....is there anything that i should be weary of when looking at these seats? any problem areas maybe with the stiching or some kind of design flaw with this year/ style of seats? what parts typically have the most wear and abuse? by the way, the seats are cloth and the car that they are coming out of only has 85k miles. any input would be great.

 

pretty much look them over with your eye.
there are no flaws that i know of. anything you dont like, youre going to notice when you feel them down. at least hope anyway.

black cloth from a 96? ive never seen any. i used to have a set of 96z seats, but that was forever ago.
they compliment the stock interior nicely.

 

From your description of your old seat you should be happy to replace them with anything that looks halfway decent.

 

the front seats have seat covers over them so they dont look too bad and the rear seats are out of site and out of mind untill i can find some newer seats. so i dont need new seat yet. money is tight right now, so if i am going to drop $150 on seats i want them to be dam near perfect, not just better then what i have.

 

Just my opinion: For $150 you are NOT going to find to much out there any better then what you have. I bought a near perfect set of 95 Z28 seats for $400 back in 02. And now the market is getting a little bit tighter & more expensive. So if you locate a complete set (front & rear) for the amount you better jump on it.

 

in the last six years i think there have probably been a lot of the 93-02 camaros put into junk yards and such. if anything, finding newer then 88 seats should be a fairly easy task compared to searching in 02. i have a list of about 10 junk yards within 2 hours of my house that i can call for updates every week for the next 4 months if i have to. i will jump on the first set that i find but as of right now i am pretty sure i can find a set for 150-200 in the next 4 months. your 95z28 seats do look sweet, i dont think i can get a set like those for 150 but a decent set of plain jane single color 4th gen seats should be easy to come by.

i got the seats and they are in good condition. they are the dark gray cloth seats out of a 1996 camaro rs with 85k miles on it. they are not in the car yet but i think they will look good. there is one spot on the drivers seat that is starting to wear but besides that they look almost new.
