STOCK GAUGES

hey guys I have a problem with my stock gauges. My temp gauge has crapped out and my speedo is going i guess cause sometimes it reads sometimes it doesnt. My question is If i buy another set of stock gauges will they work without calibration? I want to go aftermarket but im unable to due to funds right now. The car is a 1992 rs 305 5 speed car. thanks.

Re: STOCK GAUGES

Yes, if you get another cluster from a 1990-1992 Camaro it will work without any problems, IF you get one from a V8 car. It can be any V8, but if you use one from a v6 car, the tach will be off.

These clusters can be had fairly easily at junkyards or on ebay. I wish I'd have found this sooner, I know of a wrecked 92 RS that has a good cluster yet at a junkyard I was at this past weekend. EBay is another place to look but sometimes they can be pricey.

If you get lucky, and can find one for less than $100, now would be the time to swap in a 145mph speedo from a 1990-1992 Z28. Those are had to find though. I got lucky and found a 1990 IROC and a pick n pull and got it for $25. That was the find of the milennium lol.

Let me do some digging in the garage this week and if you don't find anything to work I may have some spare guages I can sell you, I have 3 spare 90-92 clusters.

Re: STOCK GAUGES

My experience with 90-92 clusters is limited, but I doubt that you'll need to swap the cluster (though the temp gauge may need to be replaced). Most speedo problems, IIRC, stem from the VSS. This latter is a common problem, so a search should provide a wealth of info
