Re: dash pad frame.

It's the factory stuff they wrapped around the foam that sucks. :P

Restoring these might be difficult in the general sense of restore. Once they start cracking, they like to keep cracking, so ripping all of the foam off might be necessary, but then you'd have to figure out how to put new foam on so it looks factory. Maybe use some of that spray foam and use a bondo grater to shape it, but then you'd want a factory pad nearby to shape too.

Someone just needs to step up to the plate and make dash pads for these cars. Almost EVERY car needs one, so they definitely have demand, Classic Industries are the only people I know of that carry them though, and even though the demand is huge, it's not $350 huge. Especially for something that's probably stock quality, if not WORSE.

Re: dash pad frame.

I just bought about 4 yards of vinyl. I wonder if it would be extremely hard to glue/stretch some of it over the pad to cover it up. Biggest problem I can think of is getting the corner to look right.

yeah i had those same worries about the corners. thats why i'm goin to have a pro doit. i'd rather spend the money knowing it will be done right. then i won't have to worry about it ever craking. i use the Mcquiers leather stuff. so i know it will last a very long time.
