Parking Brake Boot?

Okay, so I swear I posted this months ago, but I can't seem to find it with the search, so here I go again.

Does anyone have any clever ideas on how to replace the parking brake boot in our cars? I have the console in my living room, and the original rubber boot looks horrible. It's been flaking apart for months. I see how it's fastened underneath, and if I replace it, I'll probably grind the plastic flat and use hot glue, but what should I replace it with?

I was thinking maybe a strip of leather cut in a way to look like the stock bit, but I don't know how good it'd look.

Anyone modify their brake lever like this? Got some pics?

Thanks!

None of what you show above is the parking brake boot. I know I've seen these on eBay from time to time. Maybe Hawk's has an option for this.

Re: Parking Brake Boot?

You wanna get technical! Its what GM put there, but just a leather version.I know what a boot is & ive seen those deals on ebay.

Ive also tried several "boots" from other vehicles. The problem is the narrow opening for the lever, but i was trying to avoid getting into that discussion.

BTW, look closely that thing on the shifter is a boot.

Re: Parking Brake Boot?

I know what a boot is. What you are showing is the shifter boot, leather shift ball and leather e-brake handle. He is asking about the rubber that surrounds the lower e-brake handle that is attached to the console. I'm not sure I know what you are replying to here.

Ok, based on the way that you are responding with a pissy attitude and all, I think it's past your nap time. You need to relax. I'm just saying that you are responding to his request for the rubber at the base of the e-brake handle and you show us a picture of your shift ball, brake handle and shifter boot. Your not making any sense. Maybe after your nap, you'll respond with valid information and not be so pissy!!!

Re: Parking Brake Boot?

If you look closely you can see the e brake boot. The way he said "only pic i have" implies that it is not a good one.

How did you attach the leather to the console? did you make it yourself?

Weh , weh, weh, phucking read my post.Im not going to take another pic just for the sake of it.It says ITS THE ONLY PIC I HAVE.You just love to correct people on this forum & ignore the pic, because the "boot" is just barely visible in my pic.Get over it, unless requested thats the pic im posting.

Yes, i know someone beat me to the punch, but i just wanted to say it myself.

BC: the leather piece is attached to the OE piece after i cut most of the rubber away. Its only glued at the edges, yes i made it.
