Interior dyes

Once it gets a bit warmer I'm going to start replacing the red carpet (putting in black) and painting the panels, but I was wondering what to do with the door fabric and seats. The inside door panels and rear seats are in excellent condition, and only one rip in the front driver side seat, so I really don't want to have to replace them. Right now I don't have the money to get the car reupholstered, I'm just looking for a cheap way to make the inside black. I seen there were dyes for fabric you could buy, has anyone ever tried using them on a cars fabric? I haven't looked around yet but the dyes I did see require you wash the fabric in these dyes, would that even be possible to do with the sections I'm looking to dye?

Re: Interior dyes

Awesome product called DupliColor Vinyl and Fabric Dye. Comes in a rattle can at Autozone, and Advance Auto Parts. I have used it to dye my entire interior with it and it works great. On fabric you have to use a little more, but it soaks in and doesnt rub off. Check it out.
