Adhesive & sealer removal

Hi folks,
I recently pulled the carpet and padding out of my car and was wondering what everyone is doing to remove the black adhesive squares that held the carpet as well as the seam sealers. Much of the seam sealers have crumbled and come loose on their own but some of is still intact. Those black adhesive squares look like a lot of trouble and I'd appreciate some tips for getting things cleaned up.
Thanks.

Re: Adhesive & sealer removal

I had to get the glue pads off the floor of my 87 so I could weld in the sub frame connectors.I used a rubber mallet and a stiff paint scraper to chisel it off.If you just take a little strip at a time, about 1/2 inch.It comes off hard when it's thick but once you get the thick part off the rest comes off pretty easy with the scraper.

Did it pull any of the underlying paint off the floor with this method?
Thanks,
