1989 Firebird Center console
1989 Firebird Center console
How do I get this thing out?
I have removed the two screws inside the console towards the rear, and I have removed the two screws in the shifter plate.
I don't see anymore screws to remove.
I don't just want to start pulling on stuff with out knowing what I am doing.
Any help would be great.

Got it!
Did a search for "shifter plate removal" and found some good pics of the pressure clips on the shifter plate.
Once I got the shifter plate out, everything was pretty straight forward.

I took my cosole out a few years ago to replace the carpet. If I remember correctly, you need to take out the two screws under the front lip of the lid just back of the mirror and window switches. That releases the top cover and exposes other hardware pieces that mount the console to the floor board. Its been a while but I think that will get it loose. There may also be another hold down screw in the front end of the same panel by the ashtray.
