Trunk Release

As many of you know, I'm in the middle of doing my power window conversion. This weekend I pulled apart my center console to start marking out the location for the switches. Much to my surprise, the two wires that hook into the trunk release are already in place. However, when I plug it in, they do not work. Does anyone know what needs to be done to provide power to these wires? Not sure if its just a fuse or a relay maybe that needs to be plugged in? Hopefully its an easy fix. I was really hoping to not have to run these wires!!

Re: Trunk Release

I'm working on the same thing in my 90 camaro and I think you need to plug a relay into the harness right under where the switches go in the console. Thats where mine goes. You also will need to get the solinoid for the rear hatch to replace the manual one. Its the part with the cable running from it to the lock. I saw one on ebay last night for about 15 dollars I think. I don't have mine powered up yet but I think thats it. Check this link out it might help. https://www.thirdgen.org/hatch

sweet! thanks. Even tho I have to get a few more parts, it makes me happy to know I dont have to wire the entire thing, like I thought i would have to! ha
