Tightening Dash Pad?

The dash pad on my car is loose. I've looked around it a little bit to see how it is attached, but am still puzzled. When I'm on the freeway the whole thing wiggles up and down. Any way to fix it?

Take it off and have a look on the backside and make sure the holes have not opened up. If they have, you can add to them and make the screws hold better. Only four screws on the front of the pad and about 6-7 on the nearest side under the lip of the pad. Should be easy fix.

Re: Tightening Dash Pad?

Are you sure its not the whole dash assembly bouncing around? My cars do that... Like there isnt enough support in the middle of the dash. But its my entire dash...not just the pad.

Im going to build some supports while Im working on mine. Just some simple round bar braces should fix it up.

J.

Re: Tightening Dash Pad?

The dash itself is solid, so I'm assuming it's just the pad on top.

My car does this to. take off the dash pad and look at supports close to the out side edges. Mines broke and sounds like yours are too.

Re: Tightening Dash Pad?

either get more screws to hold it down, or take the dash pad off and check underneath to see if you still have those foamy supports that go underneath it to keep it snugly in place. also, there are screw holes that go ontop, where the vents are, and underneath along the whole lip. theres like 14 screws all together. ive taken mine on and off to replace the font speakers and also got a newer one with no cracks and mine is always nice and snug.
