I think so. 4th gen seats in 3rd gen interior is a fairly common swap. I've got 4th gen leather seats in my car, front and rear, and they look the exact same size as thirdgen seats.

The only thing I think you need to look out for is the folding rear seat to match, whether you have the split folding rear seat, or the single folding rear.

Just installed a set 4th Gen set in my '86 Z28, the rears are practically the same size....

Re: 3rd gen back seats and 4 gen back seats

4th gens didn't ever get the split rears. That has nothing to do with the original post...Just wanted to pass that on, for those who weren't sure.

As for the 4th gen fabric fitting the rear cushions...The 4th gen rear seat bottom cushions are a BIT narrower. Those who have 4tn gen rears, will notice that the bottom cushions seem to be narrower & not fill out the space fully. Hardly noticeable unless you really look, but they are narrower.

That being said...The 4th gen fabric MIGHT fit, but need to be stretched a little tighter to fit a 3rd gen cushion. I seriously doubtthat it WON'T fit. I'm pretty sure it will. Just tighter & require a bit more effort. For that matter, maybe you could slice an edge off the 3rd gen cushions, but I'd try fitting the fabric first. Cut too much off & it would fit bad. Better tight than loose.

At first I was like what the heck is he talking about, but I just realized you were referring to the post before mine lol. Yes, the 4th gen bottom cushions are slightly narrower, but I'm sure the covers would still fit by stretching them, as you pointed out....

I never knew that. I wonder if 4th gen owners have ever modded their rides with 3rd gen splits (recovered to match the front and hinge points added, etc)? Maybe they are to wide (could just use the frames and change the foam I guess).

If the car didn't iriginally have the split rears, it wouldn't have the middle 2 pivot mounts for the bottom of the seat backs. And, if IIRC those 2 pivots are spot welded brackets, not just bolted in, so they wouldn't be simple to transplant.

It is not hard to remove them if you have a spot weld cutter. Takes about 10 minutes. When installing in a new car, just drill bolt holes through the hole left by the spot weld cutter, or MIG it.
