i put in a 1982-1984 interior into my 1986 trans am

so naturally im putting in 82-84 switches.


i never thought about it but i was testing this defroster switch i bought from someone on here and when i push the switch on the light doesnt come on.

i hit the switch off and i hear the relay click

but.....


if my headlights are on the light is on all the time even if i hit it off

this is just by testing it for 2mins with just the key turned engine off

i have no yet driven with it plugged in but i thought if u hit it off the light comes off but its acting like an interior light not a defroster light


this seems very wrong to me all around


any thoughts guys?

 

i just tried a second switch i had lying around. from a 1984 trans am

this one i think shows me how its supposed to work.

the defroster symbol comes on with the switch and turns off when u hit the off switch

but the amber light comes on only when the headlights r on i guerss just so you can find the switch at night

sry guys dumb question but i never had to install a defroster switch before haha


does this sound right guys?
