Interior Trim replacement Question
I have searched through some of the boards and didn't find an answer to what I was looking for. ...... maybe it was out there and I just missed it. Anyway, I am replaceing some items in the interior of my 1989 Firebird like the headliner, seat belt guides, and some other trim. I have restored alot of Second Generation cars and some of these items are easy to replace because of the openings, but the Third Generation is different. I have two questions.....
First, when looking at the headliner replacement, the headliner trim for the seat belts, and the seat belt guides that go on the headrests of the seats, all of them have small openings for the seat belts. It looks like the seat belts slide through these small openings.... but the openings are not big enough to fit the entire seat belt retractor and everything through... just the slim seat belts themselves. I have not taken anything apart yet so admitidly I have not seen the seat belt retractors behind the headliner, but do they come apart for you to be able to thread the seat belts through the slim openings?
Second question.... I need to purchase the seat belts guides that go on the headrests, the rear headliner trim peice, sill plates and a few other things to finish the interior (which is black). I have called Hawks Third Gen and also Young's Camaro and neither of them have called me back in a week after 2 or 3 phone calls each. So, Is there another place to buy these parts from? I mean both places have not called me back. I mean is buying those parts not worth their time to call people back? Is there someone else out there that has these parts and others for sale that maybe wants some buisiness?
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Interior Trim replacement Question
i got my seat belt headliner trim from ebay. everything aftermarket has small slits you have to slide the belt thru including the headliner. your best bet for all this stuff is ebay. i have seen seatbelt headrest guides at www.yearone.com and www.classicindustries.com but ive never seen the sill plate trim covers.. good luck

Re: Interior Trim replacement Question
Yes, i want to know how to get the seatbelt through the opening. I have attached a photo below (yes, I know it is a second gen seat belt, but this is the best photo I have for right now to explain what I am asking). If you look at the seat belts in the third gen cars like my 1989, the seat belt has a big retractor at the bottom and also a big retractor on the top. The headliner, the headliner trim peice and the seat belt guide all have a small slit opening that only the fabric portion of the seat belt can pass through all of them. The big peice at the bottom, nor the big peice at the top can pass through. So, my questions is, do you have to dismantle one of the seat belt retractors in order to install?

Am I making sense here?

Re: Interior Trim replacement Question
lordmetalz28, I understand what you are saying is that the aftermarket has a slit in the side of the trim peice to be able to slide the seat belt into it, but when I looked at the new aheadliner and also the seat belt guides, there is not slit in the side to slide it in..... just a recatangle opening with no slit.

Re: Interior Trim replacement Question
oh i got it now. there is a slit in the new headliners. its just covered up by the headliner fabric. well my aftermarket headliners had it anyway. you have to cut a little slit in the new headliner and the roof sealtbelt trim covers that slit up. the roof seatlbelt trim also has a slit in it.
