Re: Autometer gauges in my Bird
My gauges are starting to go, so I was thinking about getting some newer ones. I like the look of Autometer but not the price tag. So, how much did it cost and what did you all have to do? I assume you had to make a new backing thing out of ABS plastic and had to drill the new holes and everything. Where can you get ABS plastic?

Cost about $550 for Phantoms and I bought the universal summit shift light. I just used plexiglass. It was really easy to work with.

Looks really good. Did you have to modify the stock cluster panel very much before attaching the plexi? Also, where did you end up getting the high bean/turn signal indicators from?

Whats the part # on that speedo? Also did you use 2 1/6 for the 2 5/8s? I like the look of the sizes you used. Iv been thinking about doing that with the Ultra Lite style. Looks kick *** btw!

Re: Autometer gauges in my Bird
Ya I had to cut a decent amount out of the stock cluster to get them to fit. The tach and speedo are 5" and the rest are 2 1/16"
The turn signals and high beam LEDs I got from summit. The part #s are
ATM-5714 Fuel
ATM-5727 Oil
ATM-5737 Water
ATM-5791 Volts
ATM-5889 Speedo
ATM-5898 Tach
The speedo is awesome. All you do to set it up is find a marked out 2 mile stretch, so I just went to mile markers on highway. Then hit button, drive the two miles, then hit button again and its set. Gravy....

What does it take to make the turn signals work? I cant find an LED that I like really. I like yours but I cant find it either.

All I did was pull the wires I needed out of the stock harness. Everything you need is there. I just used all the stock wires for the new senders, that way I ddint have to run new wiring for all that. I found a cluster pin out on here and printed it off. Just use search.

Re: Autometer gauges in my Bird
The wiring part is really easy. The only part that is a little hard is getting the panel to look just right. I painted the back of the piece I used to do my 85 T/A mettalic silver and then hit it with 2 coats of black. I used pro comp ultra lites, and the silver background looks killer. I get lots of compliments. The Gauges cost me about 1,000 bucks and the Acrylic cost me about 15.oo at Ace hardware. (1/4 inch)

Oh, hey, Meatman; What did you do about your S.E.S. Light? I put in a yellow L.E.D just below the Tach.....
