Recaro Seats
Alright, so i went to a junkyard and picked up some Recaro seats out of a camaro, I've looked at recaro seats in firebirds, and i heard they stopped that option in '86.. i pulled these out of an '88 and they don't look like one's i've seen before in a 3rd gen..they need re upholstered and i wanted to know if anyone knew if these were actually stock in the car? or out of a 3rd gen? or just aftermarket one's, only paid $15 for them and their comfortble as can be

Re: Recaro Seats
Those def. look aftermarket. Actually they look nicer than the RECAROs that Ive seen in the 3rd gens. The side bolsters are way TOO big for those to come out of any stock application lol. The factory ones in 3rd gens had a hollow like square head rest and pretty much looked like a slightly more aggressive stock trans am seat.
Post pics once you get those recovered they're gonna look sweet!

Re: Recaro Seats
Those seats look like they came out of 96-99 Chevy Lumina police car.
I've got a set just like it. Paid $200 for mine but they're in mint condition.
I seen lots of those seats in police cars I worked on over the years. They were a factory option and could be ordered through a GM dealer, Although the price may scare you away. Recaro diddn't give GM any breaks, that is for sure.

Re: Recaro Seats
Well i was kind of hopeing they were from a 3rd gen, but when i pulled up a few pics they looked nothing alike, and i didn't know if they changed them at all. These one's are pretty nice, they've got ***** to adjust the sides and they recline just like the stocks do. anyon'e have an estimate on what their going to want to recover these?

Maybe start by finding a rebutable place first, than stopping by a few times and shooting the **** with them, bring them some coffee and talk shop. Than after they've warmed up to ya, hit em with the sucker punch to the gut and see what they say!
It worked for me, I got a set to racing seats that I put into my S10 w/ V8 swap. I found a little privately owned place a few miles from my house. The guy loved chevys and especially muscle cars. I think I talked with him for over a week and spent a good 6hrs at his place, than he covered the seats I had for $50 ea!!! Helluva a deal

Re: Recaro Seats
For that price you might as well sell those recaros and buy two brand spank'n new Corbeau seats of your liking.
Just my $0.02,

Re: Recaro Seats
i don't remember exactly how mcuh the set i wanted from Corbeau, but i know all the other seats i've looked at before ran anywhere from $350ea. on up, if there's some sites that sell recaro, sparco, or anything like that for cheaper let me know, but these are more then likely what i'm going to put in my car, because ontop of whatever you have to pay for the seats, shippings going to be pretty expencive too

Re: Recaro Seats
Bought an aftermarket racing seat for safety since I was in an accident in the car but the seat worked at that time; low speed collision so mainly broke the front clip plastic and pushed in the radiator frame area which I pushed out with a long steel bar and a pull-along. Replaced the front clip as well. So i have a blue camaro with a red (now primered front) and a black hood.
Now I just have one seat in there, never bought the second aftermarket seat since I wasn't happy with the first; it sits to high with the bracket 'made for' my camaro.

Re: Recaro Seats
those look nice, look pretty similar to mine accept the headrests
i'll hopfully have them recovered within the next few weeks, depending on the shop, they say it could be anywhere from 2-4 weeks to get them finished
