Custom Door Panels

With as simple a design as the stock door panels are in these cars, would it be possible to just replace them all together w/ a flat panel of aluminum? It certainly would lighten the load a little and i wouldn't have to deal with the horrid arm rests anymore. Just make something up there as well. I'm thinking you could just use the stock door panel as a template.
Let me know if i'm way off on this thinking.

Anything is possible man! If you can get the material, you can make the panels, armrests, whatever you wish! Once at a car show I saw an IROC with diamond plate door panels, the arm rests were replaced with what I can only compare to bed rails (tastefully done). Just remember metal will resonate to hell and back!

More than aluminum, through work i have some access to carbon fiber panels. At times there are flawed ones that come through. They're large enough that i could easily get 2 door panels out of 1 of them. Will have to keep my eyes out for them coming in. I really would like to do something simple for this car.

Re: Custom Door Panels

custom door panels are very easy for our cars. However, don't go into it expecting a weight savings. They're already very light weight.
